The ornament depicts the iconic Koldinghus, majestically situated on a hilltop in the heart of Kolding. With more than 750 years of history, the castle tells stories of Danish kings, dramatic fires, and remarkable restoration. After the devastating fire of 1808, Koldinghus stood as a ruin for many years before being protected and carefully rebuilt. The extensive restoration, completed in 1993 by architects Inger Exner and Johannes Exner, intentionally preserves the dialogue between historic ruins and modern architectural additions — a unique feature beautifully reflected in this ornament.
